SACRAMENTO — The state Transportation Commission on Thursday approved $30.5 million for two San Fernando Valley-area highway projects.
Approved were a long-delayed Ventura Freeway interchange at Valley Circle Boulevard and a climbing lane for trucks on the westbound Simi Valley Freeway at the Los Angeles-Ventura County border.
The $27.3-million interchange will replace a two-lane freeway overpass and one-lane on- and off-ramps with a wider bridge and ramps. Commission approval of the interchange assures that the project will be carried out simultaneously with the widening of the Ventura Freeway, which is scheduled to begin in September.
The $3.2-million Simi Valley Freeway project will add a lane between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Rocky Peak Road.
