Diane Broussard of Chatsworth has been installed as president of the Southern California Council of the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine. Other officers for the 1987-88 year include Carole Helman of Encino, fund-raising vice president; Ellyn Oppenberg of Burbank, membership vice president; Aime Friedman of Los Angeles, treasurer, and Shirley Lippman of Encino, secretary. Their project will be the second annual Celebrity Bowling Classic, which is tentatively scheduled for March. The nonprofit center deals with research, patient care and education in immunology, allergies and respiratory medicine. For volunteer information, call 818-906-2813.

Preserve Our Parklands will hold a benefit “gala dinner in the woods” banquet July 12 at the William O. Douglas Outdoor Classroom in Franklin Canyon. Paul H. Lane, general manager and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, will be honored for his commitment to environmental education, especially in conjunction with WODOC. The preservation group was formed to support the 1988 Parks and Wildlife Initiative, which, if passed, will provide $776 million for park, coastal and wildlife protection in California.
