In “The Color of Money,” Tom Cruise learned a thing or two about pool from Paul Newman. In real life, it appears that Cruise still has something to learn from Newman in another sport: auto racing. In his first race as a professional driver, Cruise started his racing team’s Nissan 300 ZX Turbo in an IMSA Firestone Firehawk Grand Sports endurance race at Road Atlanta. “It was a lot of fun,” said Cruise. “I got a lot of seat time and it was fun racing with those guys.” Typical rookie enthusiasm--his team finished 15th. Meanwhile, Newman finished seventh in the main event.
