A bill that would help clear the way for postseason baseball games to be played at night in Wrigley Field was approved by the Illinois Senate and sent to Gov. James R. Thompson.
The bill, which passed, 55-1, would exempt playoff, World Series and all-star baseball games played at the Chicago Cubs’ stadium from Illinois’ nighttime noise emission regulations.
Baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth said recently that if the Cubs make the playoffs, baseball stands to lose millions of dollars in television revenue if games have to be played during the day.
