After denying her three times, Actors Equity in New York announced Thursday it will permit “Phantom of the Opera” star Sarah Brightman to play Broadway--for a maximum of six months. The deal, however, stipulates that an unknown, non-star American actor will have to get a lead in a West End production within the next three years. “Phantom,” which opens in November, was written by Brightman’s husband, Andrew Lloyd Webber.
