Schwartz Wins Scratch Main Event at Speedway
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa survived a crash, then went on to win after a restart of the four-lap scratch main event in the weekly speedway motorcycle racing Friday night at Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa in front of 3,983.
Schwartz came back to take the scratch main after crashing against the wall with Bob Ott of Balboa on the first lap.
Brad Oxley of San Clemente finished second, Ott was third and Phil Collins of Newport Beach fourth.
Dubb Ferrell of Whittier won the eight-lap handicap main event. Tuff McBride of Grand Terrace was second, Alan Christian of Huntington Beach third, Scott Brown of Garden Grove fourth and Keith Larsen of Long Beach fifth.
