Elton John will face the news media here Tuesday for the first time since both his January throat operation and his March separation from, and subsequent reconciliation with, his wife, Renate. The press conference will be held in a Universal Studios sound stage, where MCA Records will host a breakfast for 50 members of the media to celebrate the return of the flamboyant singer to the label where he had his big hits in the ‘70s. John’s first MCA release will be “Elton John Live in Australia With the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra”; there also will be a Showtime cable special of the same title on Saturday.
