Three California speedway riders, including Kelly Moran of Huntington Beach, finished among the top nine in the Overseas Final at Bradford, England, Sunday to advance to the July 26 InterContinental Final in Vojens, Denmark.
Moran and Sam Ermolenko of Corona each accumulated 10 points (out of a possible 15) in five heat races in Odsal Stadium to finish tied for third, behind Mitch Shirra of New Zealand (12) and Jeremy Doncaster of England (11).
John Cook of Roseville also qualified by scoring eight points. Mike Faria of Colton and Robert Pfetzing of Santa Ana each scored five points but failed to qualify for the InterContinental Final.
The top 11 finishers at Denmark will advance to the World Speedway Final Sept. 5-6 in Amsterdam.
