Orders from the International Olympic Committee banning some oral contraceptives from the 1988 Olympics have angered several American women cyclists competing in the Rocky Mountain News race near Denver.
The cyclists were given a letter from the U.S. Olympic Committee that said the IOC has banned the use of any contraceptive, including some birth control pills, with the substance “norethisterone.” The letter said the substance is performance-enhancing.
