Central County : Robbers Strike 3 Banks; Police Arrest 2 Suspects

Bank robbers struck three times in the county Friday.

In Tustin, an unarmed man entered a branch of Pomona First Federal Savings & Loan, 17851 17th St., at 10:36 a.m. and demanded that a teller hand over all her money, Police Lt. Houston Williams said. After the suspect scooped up about $300 from the teller’s tray, he ran from the bank and was driven away by a female accomplice.

Williams said witnesses gave the license plate number and a description of the car to police. Costa Mesa police stopped two suspects in their car at 1:45 p.m. and arrested them, Williams said. No other information was immediately available.

In Seal Beach, a branch of World Savings & Loan, 12315 Seal Beach Blvd., was robbed at 10:45 a.m., a police spokesman said.

And in Santa Ana, a branch of the Bank of America, 1555 West 17th St., was robbed at 3:15 p.m., police said.

Further details about the Seal Beach and Santa Ana robberies were not available.
