Candidate Filing Begins Monday for November Elections in 3 Cities

Filing opens Monday for November municipal elections in Hermosa Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates. Candidates have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 7 to file their nomination papers.

In Hermosa Beach, two City Council seats and the posts of city clerk and city treasurer will be on the ballot. City Councilman Tony DeBellis and Clerk Kathleen Midstokke said they will seek reelection. Treasurer Norma Goldbach could not be reached for comment and Mayor John Cioffi said he has not decided whether he will run again.

Three council seats will be up for grabs in Rancho Palos Verdes. Mayor Mel Hughes and Councilman John McTaggart said they will run again, but Councilman Douglas Hinchliffe could not be reached for comment on his intentions.

Rolling Hills Estates voters will elect three council members and the incumbents--Mayor Hugh Muller and Councilmen Peter Weber and Warren Schwarzman --said they will run again.
