Lt. Col. Oliver North: Patriotic Hero or Misguided Zealot?

Share

Oliver North is not a hero, and shame on those Americans who can’t understand the difference. This is the man who allowed the hostage deal to go through because he wanted money for the contras and thought he was going to get all the hostages back.

This is the man who could approach foreign countries and solicit money without understanding the foreign policy consequences. This is the man who allowed money left over from the arms sales to become a business account among profiteers.

This is the man who thought the late CIA Director William Casey to be such a great lawyer that he, North, could not do anything illegal. This is the man who would do or die without questioning why.

Heroism involves judgment.
