Hometown Sets Aug. 15 as ‘Oliver North Day’

PHILMONT, N.Y. —
The village where Lt. Col. Oliver L. North grew up will honor him on Aug. 15, which has been declared Oliver North Day.
The Philmont Village Board voted this week to honor North in festivities that will coincide with the village’s annual Community Day. North went to high school in the village of 1,674 about 30 miles south of Albany. Meanwhile, in nearby Ulster County, a businessman said he is starting a red ribbon campaign to honor North.
