Hair Stylist Due in Court in Murder of Salon Owner

A Westminster hair stylist will be arraigned today in the stabbing murder last weekend of a 51-year-old Huntington Beach woman, police said Thursday.

Officers said the stylist, Kevin Lloyd Kristiansen, had worked up until a year ago at a Huntington Beach salon owned by the victim, Annette Karla Robertson. Police said they had a noisy business dispute inside Robertson’s condominium in the moments before her death.

Kristiansen, 32, was arrested on suspicion of murder at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday at Revolution Hair Design, 8447 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, police said.

Sgt. Jerry Evans said Kristiansen was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. The suspect was to be arraigned on the murder charge this morning in West Orange County Municipal Court in Westminster, Evans said.

Heard Screams

Neighbors heard Robertson screaming from within her condominium shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday and ran outside, seeing a blond man leave Robertson’s home and drive away in her Mercedes-Benz, police said.

Robertson, who shared the condominium in the 1400 block of Arrow Lane with her husband, was found by the neighbors beaten and slashed to death in the blood-spattered home. Her husband was out of town at the time.

Chris Lucas, 34, a resident of the condominium complex, told the Times that he had heard “shrieks and screams” and then saw at least one neighbor run immediately to the Robertsons’ door.

“The door was slammed in his face, and that neighbor ran back to get more help,” Lucas said Saturday. “When he ran back to the place--it was only a minute or so--he said he saw a young man driving out of her garage . . . (in) her Mercedes.”

Man Described

Police on Saturday said neighbors told them the man they saw was in his 20s. On Sunday, police circulated a composite drawing of the man, describing him as a thin white man 17-25 years old with sandy blond hair and a generally neat and clean appearance.

Police would not elaborate Thursday on what led them to arrest Kristiansen, beyond stating that they had conducted an extensive investigation “based on witness interviews and physical evidence.”
