The Utah Highway Patrol has determined that a Cerritos youth was killed and four of his high school classmates injured when the driver of their van was distracted by an electrical storm, officials said. Initial reports indicated that the driver had fallen asleep. Eric John Stranz, 17, died in the accident last Saturday on Interstate 15, about 20 miles south of Nephi. The other four teen-agers, including the driver, were treated for injuries and released from Utah Valley Medical Center. The boys’ van rolled over on a return trip from a football camp at Brigham Young University in Provo.
