Schwartz Wins Speedway Racing Main Event
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa beat Ronnie Correy of Fullerton Friday to win the main event at Round 2 of the National Championship Series Friday in speedway motorcycle racing in front of 6,403 at Long Beach’s Veterans Stadium.
The event is a qualifying race to earn points for the speedway national championship in October.
Billy Hamill of Monrovia won the consolation main.
Eernie Adams set an unofficial world record with a motorcycle jump of 182 feet. Adams collapsed after landing the motorcycle and was taken to Long Beach Community Hospital for observation.
