Robert Redford and Sonia Braga were among the dozens of Hollywood luminaries honored at the Beverly Hilton during 17th annual Golden Eagle Awards ceremony Friday sponsored by Nosotros, an organization dedicated to improving the Latino community’s on-screen image. Among those honored at the ceremony--again emceed by Ricardo Montalban of “Fantasy Island” fame--were: Raul Julia, outstanding actor, for his performance in “Kiss of the Spider Woman”; Braga, outstanding actress, “Kiss of the Spider Woman”; Saundra Santiago, “Miami Vice,” outstanding actress in a TV series; Esai Morales, most promising actor, for his role as Ritchie Valens’ brother in “La Bamba”; and Patrice Martinez, most promising actress for her role in “Three Amigos.” Redford, director of the as-yet-unreleased “The Milagro Beanfield War,” received the humanitarian award.
