Lomita : Street-Sweeping Contract
Despite an emotional plea from Jerry Costello of South Bay Sweeping Co., the City Council rejected his bid and awarded the city’s street-sweeping contract to Joe’s Sweeping Co.
Joe’s submitted the lowest bid, $53,275 per year. South Bay Sweeping, the city’s contractor for more than 10 years, submitted a bid of $60,840.
Costello said that the higher bid was due to his recent purchase of new sweeping equipment.
