Cerritos : ABC Wins Health Grant
For the second consecutive year, the ABC Unified School District has been awarded a $50,000 state grant as part of a three-year health education pilot project. The project, called the Comprehensive Health Education and Training Program, was created last year by Bill Honig, state superintendent of public instruction.
Six school districts in the Los Angeles area are participating, including the Beverly Hills Unified School District.
The program consists of expanded health services for students as well as physical and nutritional education. Parents also are given instruction in proper eating habits. The theme of the program is that healthy students achieve more.
