AIA Sponsoring Sand Sculpture Competition

The annual Sandcastle and Sand Sculpture competition will be held next Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dockweiler State Beach, near the corner of Vista Del Mar and Imperial Highway just south of Los Angeles International Airport.

The competition, sponsored annually by the associate members of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects, allows participants to build their own projects or join local architects, designers, contractors and other building professionals in team projects. There will also be a bucket-and-shovel contest for children under the age of 11.

Participants must pay a fee of $10, and can register through the AIA’s Los Angeles office or at the beach on the day of the event. All proceeds go to the Landworth Memorial Scholarship Fund, which assists local architectural students.
