Former Kansas State basketball player Jari Wills died Saturday of stab wounds suffered in an early-morning fight at a tavern in Ottawa, Kan., police said.
Officers responding to a disturbance call at 1:15 a.m. found Wills, 29, lying on the ground about a block from the tavern.
Wills, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., was a 6-7 forward-center who averaged 10.3 points in 1979-80, his senior year at Kansas State.
