White Wins Decision; Ramos Beats Buchanan
Mike White, a 7-foot, 279-pounder, won a unanimous 10-round decision over California heavyweight champion Dee Collier in their main event at the Irvine Marriott Hotel Monday night.
White, 29, has a 19-6-1 record with 13 knockouts. Collier, 28, fell to 10-7-0 with five knockouts. His title was not at stake in the fight.
White piled up points with combinations and jabs. He won by scores of 99-92, 98-92 and 98-94 on the judges’ scorecards.
Lightweight Primo Ramos of Durango, Mexico stopped Yogi Buchanan of Berkley, Mo., at 57 seconds of the fourth round at the Forum.
Ramos, who weighed 135 pounds, was trailing of all three judges’ scorecards when he used a short right to floor Buchanan.
Ramos, 27, is 31-5 with 21 knockouts. Buchanan, 20, is 17-5-1 with 12 knockouts.
