NBC and the cable networks just finished their annual meetings with editors and critics from around the country at the Century Plaza Hotel; beginning today, PBS begins its own at the Sheraton at Redondo Beach, to be followed by ABC and CBS. The reason? Simple: It’s $90 a night at the Sheraton vs. $125 at the Century Plaza. As of January, the networks no longer pick up hotel bills for any visiting press (though most journalists have been paying their own bills for years). An NBC representative said that the network opted for the Century Plaza despite the extra $35 per night for the sake of convenience.
