National Anthem

To date I have attended four concerts at the Hollywood Bowl this season, and I must say it is nice to hear the program open with our National Anthem.

This is done in other countries, and it has often bothered me that the only place we seem to hear our own anthem is before sporting events where it is usually mutilated by some “hot dog” singer, instrumentalist or conductor who has embellished it with added notes.

Thank you, Hollywood Bowl, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for playing it--and playing it straight!
