Albacore Make an Appearance Off Morro Bay

Share

Albacore have yet to show up in substantial numbers along the California coast, but anglers in the Morro Bay area have had some success catching the popular game fish.

Most boats reported spotty catches during the week, but 34 anglers aboard two boats brought home 56 albacore Sunday. Two days later, 15 anglers landed 20. All were in the 15- to 20-pound range.

The boats were fishing an area roughly 55 miles west-southwest of Morro Bay, where landing operator Patty Strauss reported excellent conditions, saying, “The fish are definitely out there, but in very deep water.”
