The State - News from Aug. 12, 1987
A Southern Baptist minister was identified by U.S. Atty. Joseph Russoniello in San Francisco as the prime suspect in the possible molestation of 37 children at the Presidio Army base child-care center. Gary Hambright, 33, was a child supervisor at the center from June, 1985, to November, 1986. He was indicted Dec. 30 on charges of sodomy, lewd acts and oral copulation of a 3-year-old boy, but those charges were dropped after a federal judge refused to allow the parents or a doctor to testify about the child’s description of the alleged incident. Hambright now works as a handyman for a San Francisco church.
