A dab of brown makeup Wednesday night hid from the television audience the scars from the recent skin cancer surgery on President Reagan’s nose.

Doctors took two small slices from near the tip of Reagan’s nose in an operation at Bethesda Naval Hospital on July 31.

The bandages were removed several days ago and the President has quipped about the “billboard” he has been sporting as a warning against getting too much sun.

But the President, who maintains he never wears makeup, allowed a bit of a cover-up for his nationally televised speech.
