A 27-year-old San Francisco man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for delivering a bomb-laden bouquet to the estranged wife of his alleged homosexual lover. Shaun Small was convicted earlier this month of donning a wig and bellhop’s uniform and taking the booby-trapped dried flowers to the federal General Services Administration office where Melanie Pilaski, 42, was working. The bomb subsequently exploded injuring Pilaski and a co-worker. In sentencing Small, U.S. District Judge Frank Kaufman said much of the blame must go to Pilaski’s estranged husband, Peter, who he said exerted a “Svengali-like influence” over Small.
