Wife Kills Mate in Gun ‘Play’

A 25-year-old Venice woman shot and killed her husband while the couple played in bed with what both apparently believed were unloaded pistols, authorities said today.

The 27-year-old victim and his wife had a habit of “dry-firing” or pointing unloaded guns at each other, police Detective David Straky said. The two were in bed at home early Monday when the man pretended firing at his wife with an unloaded gun he kept near his side of the bed. She fired back with what she thought was the unloaded weapon she kept beside her, Straky said. She was not arrested. The couple’s names were withheld pending notification of relatives.
