The 79 members of the South Gate Police Officers Assn. and eight members of the Police Management Assn. ratified the salary and benefit raises for fiscal 1987-88, which will cost the city $392,995. In the second year, fiscal 1988-89, the increases will cost $275,026.

The starting salary for a South Gate police officer was $25,800, but with the new agreement will be $27,100, said Gary Bacock, chief negotiating officer for the city.
