A man’s body was found submerged at Ventura Point in the Mission Bay area Wednesday, the coroner’s office reported.
The dead man was identified as Roy James Williams, 31, of 1494 Oro Vista Road in San Diego. He had been dead in the water for about two days, said Deputy Coroner George Dickason.
A swimmer found the man submerged under the West Mission Bay Drive over-crossing of Ventura Cove at 11:20 a.m., Dickason said.
The man, who was fully clothed, apparently drowned, Dickason said. The exact cause of death was to be determined at an autopsy scheduled for today “We don’t know how he got in the water--if it was an accident or what,” Dickason said.
