Topanga : Park Service Buys 160 Acres

Share

The Mountains Restoration Trust has announced the sale of the 160-acre Hernandez Bowl in Topanga to the National Park Service for $447,000.

The parkland has been a high priority for acquisition since Congress began allocating money for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, which was formed in 1978.

The trust, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving open space in the Santa Monicas, bought Hernandez Bowl in December but the Park Service did not have enough money then for the purchase.
