Pros and Cons on Bilingual Education

Teachers working in Los Angeles have now gone into policy making instead of just sticking to normal school room duties.
In a curious “referendum,” the majority of them voted to rebut and de-emphasize bilingual education. Despite the huge numbers of immigrant pupils who speak no English, these teachers decided they wanted no part in teaching them adequately.
Reasons for this attitude are subtle racism, arrogance and just pure laziness. They definitely do not want to be bothered to learn even rudimentary Spanish or other languages.
I hope the Los Angeles Board of Education will not abdicate its responsibilities and allow the teachers to tell it what to do.
A sharp reminder that bilingual education is mandated by federal law should be communicated as soon as possible to this group of irresponsible teachers.
