2 San Diegans Shot During Drug-Related Incident

Two San Diego men were hospitalized Saturday after being hit during a drug-related midnight shooting at a Southeast San Diego residence, police said.

Joaquin Canedo, believed to be in his 30s, was shot in the head and taken to Mercy Hospital, authorities said. Mario Abodaca, age unknown, was transported to UC San Diego Medical Center after being shot in the face. Both were in serious condition, hospital officials said.

The shooting occurred shortly before midnight Friday.

San Diego police said the incident was connected to drugs and was not gang-related.
