The Region : Deported Parolee Held in Rape of Girl

A man who was deported to Mexico after serving time in state prison for assault was arrested in South Los Angeles on charges of abducting and raping a 5-year-old girl. Police said Florencia Guatla, 22, was being held without bail at the Southeast Division jail for violating parole after his arrest on suspicion of kidnaping a minor for the purpose of sexual assault. Police Sgt. John Kinard said a 5-year-old girl was treated at Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center before being released to her mother. Under terms of his parole for an earlier assault, Guatla, who had been staying with the victim’s family, had been deported to Mexico and was not to return to the United States.
