Rank-and-file members of two unions representing 380,000 U.S. Postal Service employees have ratified a new contract providing a 7% pay raise and cost-of-living adjustments over the next 40 months, union officials said. The voting was by the American Postal Workers Union and by the Mail Handlers Division of the Laborers Union. Results were still outstanding for the National Assn. of Letter Carriers. Combined, the three unions represent about 510,000 employees. Officials of the Mail Handlers union said the vote on ratifying the accord was 17,011 for and 1,925 against. APWU spokesman Danny Frank said his union’s vote was 105,786 for and 26,851 against.
