Four robbers stole $73,000 from an El Segundo Boulevard check-cashing store just minutes after an armored car dropped off the money, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. However, Los Angeles police arrested the suspects a short time later and recovered the money. Three men pistol-whipped the owner of Carniceria La Mexico meat market and check-cashing store, grabbed the bags of money and escaped in a car driven by a fourth person, officers said. As they were leaving, an unidentified resident flagged down a Los Angeles police patrol car, which stopped the suspects’ car. Three of the men fled but were caught about an hour later near 123rd Street and Budlong Avenue. The four were booked on suspicion of armed robbery.
