Services Today for Former USC Player Murphy

A funeral Mass for George Murphy, a former USC quarterback and National Football League game official, will be said at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Coronado.
Murphy died Tuesday in Chula Vista of complications of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. He was 60.
After graduating from USC in 1949, Murphy played for three seasons with the old Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Football Conference. He later became an official and worked as a head linesman for 18 years in the NFL.
