California businessman Edward J. Elkins was sentenced by a federal judge in Atlanta to the maximum term of 15 years in prison and fined $6.6 million for conspiring to sell military equipment to Libya. U.S. District Judge J. Owen Forrester told Elkins he would have made the term stiffer if possible, adding that he wants the sentence “chiseled in stone with the name of every person who has died as a result of Libyan terrorism.”
