City Councilman Michael Woo this week called for the creation of a panel of experts to study the noise impact of Metro Rail on television and radio studios along Sunset Boulevard. Woo said entertainment and news executives are worried that noise and vibrations from the trains will disrupt their recordings and broadcasts. Construction of the transit system along Sunset is expected to begin in the early 1990s. Woo, whose council district includes Hollywood, said TV and radio station owners believe that an environmental impact study conducted by RTD officials was “technically deficient and did not support the contention that the sound and vibrations could be mitigated.”
