Grant Gondrezick of the National Basketball Assn.’s Phoenix Suns, one of more than a dozen defendants in the Suns’ drug-conspiracy case, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge and was sentenced to probation.
The attorney for Sun center James Edwards, meanwhile, denied a report that Edwards was offered a plea agreement by prosecutors but turned it down.
Gondrezick, 24, pleaded guilty to interfering with an investigation, admitting he asked a witness not to testify against him, said his attorney, Ken Fields.
Superior Court Judge Michael Ryan’s office confirmed that Gondrezick had entered into a plea agreement and had been sentenced to three years’ probation.
Gondrezick, a reserve guard for the Suns, is a second-year player. He was a fourth-round draft choice in 1986 after playing for Pepperdine.
