La Jolla Man Named Alternate to Board
Joseph J. Lipper of La Jolla was appointed Thursday as an alternate member of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board by Gov. George Deukmejian.
Lipper, 67, replaces Earl J. Cantos Sr. of San Diego, who resigned.
A former Associated Press reporter in Sacramento, Lipper is the father of Deukmejian’s assistant press secretary, Donna Lipper Lucas.
After leaving AP in 1957, Lipper served as vice president of public affairs for Aerojet General Corp. He is a Democrat. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.
