Views on Cleator

Councilman Bill Cleator is so right when he takes to task those who would deny to others the opportunity of living in our beautiful city. It is unrealistic and selfish when there is so much available land and almost 50,000 newcomers a year.

Those who are responsible for approving developments appear to consider and weigh all aspects of a project before rendering a decision. Developers are expected to provide new roads, landscaping of banks, etc.

For newcomers to be so paranoid about growth when they themselves contributed to it, is incredible. As Cleator points out, had there been similar objections to their settling here, maybe the population in their hometown would be having the growth problem.

All of us are concerned about overdevelopment, but let us not close our minds and hearts to the needs of others and share our lovely environment. The quality of life can still be maintained if everyone shares the responsibility.

If each of us would be more courteous on the roads, aware of noise levels and not litter, we could all live comfortably together in spite of necessary growth.
