‘TEMPEST’ OPENING DELAYED

Share

Feeling that the production wasn’t quite ready yet, the La Jolla Playhouse has postponed the opening of “The Tempest” until Sunday.

Artistic Director Des McAnuff said in a statement that director Robert Woodruff “is still working on the production and these additional preview performances will allow time for the work to be completed.”

The only performance canceled was the press opening, which was to be on Monday, Playhouse spokesman Bruce Campbell said.

Performances scheduled for this week are being called preview performances, and admission will be at “preview prices,” Campbell said. Persons holding full-price tickets for this week’s shows can get a cash refund, apply the difference to tickets for next season or write off the price difference as a tax-deductible donation, he said.
