Six Injured in Head-on Collision on Stonehill Drive at Dana Point

Six people were injured, one seriously, in a two-car, head-on collision in the Dana Point area Monday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said the accident occurred when the driver of one of the cars, Thomas J. Pestritto, 17, of Laguna Niguel, was in the wrong lane on Stonehill Drive near Blue Lantern Street.

Pestritto suffered “major injuries,” the CHP said. He was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.

A passenger in his car, Scott M. Pearlman, 15, Laguna Niguel, suffered minor injuries, the CHP said, and was taken to South Coast Hospital in South Laguna.

A couple and their two children in the other car all suffered moderate to minor injuries, the CHP said. The driver, M.L. Dabney, 34, of Dana Point, and his wife, Deborah, 33, were taken to Mission Hospital, the CHP said, as was Brookes, 4. Brittany Dabney, 6, suffered more extensive injuries was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

No charges were filed, but an investigation is continuing, the CHP said.
