A Freeway by Another Name . . .

Los Angeles . . . has a common-sense policy of naming streets. No street may be named for someone now living. This has, with few exceptions, been in effect for 200 years and is an excellent policy in a country that does not subscribe to imperialism.

Our freeways, with the exception of the Harbor Freeway (which should have been the San Pedro Freeway) are generally named for the city they terminate in. Now I see our imperial Legislature is going to name the Century Freeway after another living bureaucrat, (U.S. Rep.) Glenn Anderson (D-Harbor City), which means nothing but confusion for the traveler. The best name would be the Airport Freeway. Naturally the imperial Legislature will disregard common sense as they do 99% of the time unless you, the citizen, lets them know. If the San Pedro Freeway was named for the Harbor, then the Century should be the Airport Freeway.
