Thousands of Extra Tickets for Two Masses Are Made Available

Parishioners throughout the Los Angeles Archdiocese got a second chance Sunday for admission to the two papal Masses after planners released several thousand additional tickets.

Walter McGuire, the archdiocese’s coordinator of the Los Angeles papal visit, said planners had held back about 20% of the 168,000 tickets for seats at the Masses at the Memorial Coliseum and Dodger Stadium because of uncertainity over how many seats would be needed for priests, volunteer guides and entertainers. McGuire said the tickets released Sunday were from among those, but that he was not certain of the number.

“We held over a bunch for last-minute-type stuff, and we didn’t use them,” McGuire said. “What’s left, we reallocated.”
