WASHINGTON —
The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved Federal Judge William S. Sessions today to become FBI director, clearing the way for his swift confirmation by the full Senate.
The 14-member panel approved Sessions on a voice vote after concluding the opening session of its confirmation hearing on the much more controversial nomination of Judge Robert H. Bork to the Supreme Court. The Senate is expected to confirm the Sessions’ nomination overwhelmingly later this week.
