“L.A. Law” co-star Jimmy Smits and his actress-girlfriend may not be charged with assaulting police officers, it was reported Tuesday. Smits and Wanda de Jesus, who uses the name Juanita Cruz, were not arraigned in West Los Angeles Municipal Court on Monday as scheduled. The reason? Supervising City Attorney Mary Clare Molidor hasn’t decided whether charges will be filed against the actors. They were arrested in August on charges of battery to police officers after police arrived at Smits’ home in response to reports of a woman’s screams for help. The actors made “a voluntary statement” to Molidor last week and the city attorney is expected to reach a decision on whether to file next week.
