The State : Driver Held in 3 Deaths
Triple murder and drunk driving charges were filed against a motorist who allegedly drove over four children, killing three of them, as they played in the yard of an East San Jose home. Jose Santo Bugarin, 26, was arraigned in Santa Clara County Municipal Court on three counts of murder, three counts of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run driving. Alvaro Escobar, 31, who was Bugarin’s passenger during the Saturday evening tragedy, was charged with hit-and-run driving and driving under the influence.”He wasn’t driving, but if he was there shouting ‘Let’s get out of here; let’s get out of here,’ he can be charged too,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Alan Nudelman said. Both men were ordered jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail each.
